Undergraduate Courses

The College offers the following programmes:

The Degree programmes are in affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

B.A. PROGRAMME

The courses are organized in such a way that a student can graduate with emphasis in Christian Religious Studies and be prepared for ordination in any of the Anglican Church.

Students who wish to concentrate in the biblical field and prove themselves capable, are given the  opportunity to gain proficiency in both biblical languages as well as in Old and New Testament exegeses. Students who wish to concentrate on the social aspects of religion and the problems of man in society are given the opportunity to take relevant courses along that line offered by the Department of Religion and Culture, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

OTHER PROGRAMMES / ACTIVITIES

All the academic programmes of Trinity College are not geared toward ordination. In addition to the regular “ordination courses” are the following:

This takes place during the long vacation, between July – August. Those intending to be ordained as non-stipendiary ministers attend the course for 3, 4 and 5 years. Some serving priests in full parish ministry are also qualified to attend the programme.

This course is designed to expose the wives of student ministers to the great demands the ministry makes on them. The course also affords the wives the opportunity to be with their husbands and study together. The duration of the course is one week every year. The course has been hailed to be very educative. Wives must attend two times before their spouses’ graduation. Nursing and expectant mothers are not allowed to attend College Wives Week.

Now that Trinity is affiliated to one of our Nigerian Universities, it is being contemplated that a special programme for Secondary School Teachers of Bible Knowledge would be organized. If and when this programme takes off those who complete it will be awarded the Diploma in Religious Studies of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

In-service or refresher courses are occasionally run for junior workers in the Church in order to update them and equip them with contemporary tools and knowledge of the Church’s ministry and mission. Candidates are those recommended by their Bishops.

Retreats for ministers and other cadres of Church workers help to keep Church Workers in good spiritual form.

The members of the teaching staff do present papers to the college audience once a month. This has come to attract the participation of the wider outside audience as well as other papers presented by other alumni and the academia.
